The Bamboo Brace was created by physical therapists seeking a dynamic elbow brace that encourages extension and promotes rather than interferes with motor skill development. Named for its resemblance to the resilient properties of natural bamboo, this dynamic adjustable brace is a snug-fitting alternative to bulky rigid elbow braces found in therapeutic settings.

Therapeutic Benefits: As a rehabilitation tool for physical and occupational therapy, the dynamic elbow re-alignment assists children in gaining strength and control of key joints and musculature critical for gross and fine motor skill development.

Yes, The Bamboo Brace has been used successfully for lower extremities in children under 4-5 years with M and L sizes. Similar to elbow control, it provides dynamic support allowing excellent strengthening at hip, trunk, and ankle while permitting some knee flexion. This works well for children with Down syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, and similar low-tone conditions.

Will The Bamboo Brace increase stress in children with frequent hand-to-mouth movements? +

This varies by child, but The Bamboo Brace is unique in allowing some elbow bending without complete rigidity. The channel can hold multiple plastic supports, allowing adjustment over weeks to find the right resistance that provides good function while preventing unwanted behaviors.

Does The Bamboo Brace contain latex, phthalates, or lead? +

No, The Bamboo Brace is FDA approved and CPSIA compliant. It is BPA-free, lead-free, and phthalate-free, making it safe for pediatric use.

How do I wash and care for The Bamboo Brace? +

Do not machine wash or dry. Hand wash with stay removed in warm water and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly to remove all detergents that may irritate skin. Air dry completely before wearing - the brace must not be worn until completely dry.

Yes to both. Sometimes just the brace material can prevent unhelpful elbow flexion, especially in children with mild cerebral palsy or low tone conditions. Multiple stays can be used simultaneously if needed, though keeping the brace dynamic and flexible is generally recommended.

Which flexible stay should I start with and how do they work? +

Stays increase in stiffness from 1 to 5 (higher numbers more rigid). Start with stay #3 and adjust as needed.
